Stockholm 2012 Have You Booked Your Accommodation? Our allocation of rooms in the Clarion Hotel Sign expires this week, when all remaining rooms will be put on the open market. This is a VERY busy week in Stockholm as several major conferences are happening at once. If you have not yet booked your room, please do so immediately to avoid disappointment. Stockholm 2012 A Whistlestop Tour During the EuRA Conference time is precious. With so many people to meet, so many conference and training sessions to attend, sightseeing needs to be efficient! Each year we are privileged to be hosted by a new great European city and this year is no different. Stockholm is a truly beautiful city and although there is a great deal to see, a good flavour of the life of Stockholmers can be gained in a couple of hours walking the streets.

For the full article, Mercer Quality of Living Survey 2011 German Speaking Cities Top the List Vienna has again been named as the ‘best’ city in the world, with the Austrian capital’s perennial Swiss rival, Zurich, in second place. Auckland, Munich and Düsseldorf complete the top five. Overall, German-speaking cities occupy six places in the top ten in this year’s Quality of Living Survey by Mercer Consulting. As I turn to page 8 of 10 of the RFP questionnaire I am reviewing; my fifth of the day (only five more to go today!), and the twenty-seventh of a total of sixty-eight submissions for this process, I wonder: Have they submitted their first draft by mistake? Alas, the document’s title loudly declares that this is the "FINAL VERSION". And the shouting doesn’t stop there. Perhaps in their solitary moment of insight, the author of this submission recognised the weakness of their answers and decided to hit Caps Lock for the duration of the response. Disheartened, and with a slight headache from all the shouting, I grimly type "lack of basic communication skills" into the notes column of my scoresheet. Again. Cultural Thought for the Day... Anne Copeland is a licensed psychologist with expertise in cultural transition and clinical psychology. Prior to founding The Interchange Institute in 1997, Dr. Copeland was Associate Professor of Psychology at Boston University. | State of the Industry 2012 How Europe is Coping If confidence is the key to a strong global economy, the debt crisis in the Eurozone has imposed a deep sense of self-doubt in markets throughout the world. The mobility industry is a clear thermometer for what happens within the global economy; when the multi-nationals sneeze, relocation providers gets the ‘flu. With the recent second bailout for Greece and the announcement by the ECB last week of €530bn of cheap loans to 800 banks across the EU, we all hope to see growth kick started again across the continent. Mozambique was considered to be one of the fastest growing economies in Africa and is amongst the 10th fast growing economies in the world, with an expected average annual GDP growth of 7.9% from 2011 to 2016. The government has taken steps to make Mozambique as attractive as possible to foreign investment.
